Backpacks, fresh starts and 200 ready-to-learn kids
Our back-to-school giveaway sent youth from across the GTA into the new school year with backpacks, supplies and a community cheering them on.
A new school year is more than a date on the calendar. For a lot of the kids and teens we serve, it is the moment everything resets — new teachers, new schedules, new pressure to keep up. Having the right supplies on day one is small in the grand scheme of things, and enormous to a young person standing in line for class.
This year, with the help of donors, sponsors and a small army of volunteers, we sent 200 youth from across the GTA into the new school year with a brand new backpack, the supplies inside it and a community of adults rooting for them. Newcomer families, single-parent households and youth in our mentorship programs were prioritized.
