One Community Hub ("we," "us," or "our") is a Canadian non-profit organization dedicated to supporting youth and families facing barriers across the Greater Toronto Area, with a special focus on minority and newcomer communities. We are committed to protecting the privacy and personal information of everyone who interacts with our organization, including participants, families, volunteers, donors and website visitors. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and safeguard your information in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable Ontario privacy legislation.

By using our website or participating in our programs, you consent to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you visit our website, we may automatically collect certain technical information, including:

1.3 Information About Minors

Our programs serve youth as young as 6 years of age. Where participants are under 18, we require consent from a parent or legal guardian before collecting personal information. Parents and guardians may contact us at any time to review, update or request deletion of their child's information.

  • To register participants and deliver our programs, workshops and community events
  • To communicate with participants, families and caregivers about program schedules, updates and opportunities
  • To send newsletters and event invitations to subscribers who have opted in
  • To process donations and issue tax receipts (once charitable status is obtained)
  • To evaluate program effectiveness and report to funders and community partners
  • To respond to inquiries and provide customer support
  • To comply with legal obligations and protect the safety of participants
  • To screen and onboard volunteers and staff

We will not use your personal information for any purpose other than those described above without your prior consent.

We do not sell, rent or trade personal information to third parties. We may share information in limited circumstances:

3.1 Service Providers

We may share information with trusted third-party vendors who assist us in operating our website, processing payments, managing communications, or delivering programs. These parties are contractually bound to use information only for the purpose for which it was shared and to maintain appropriate security.

3.2 Funders and Partners

We may share aggregate, non-identifying program statistics with funders and community partners for reporting purposes. We will never share individually identifiable information with funders without your explicit consent.

3.4 Organizational Transitions

We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by applicable law. Program participant records are typically retained for a minimum of seven (7) years following the end of participation to satisfy funder reporting obligations. Donor records are retained in accordance with CRA requirements. You may request deletion of your information at any time, subject to legal retention requirements.

5. Data Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. We encourage you to use strong passwords and to contact us immediately if you suspect any unauthorized use of your information.

6. Your Rights

Under PIPEDA and applicable provincial legislation, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
  • Withdraw consent to the use of your information (subject to legal and contractual limitations)
  • Request deletion of your information, where legally permissible
  • File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (www.priv.gc.ca)
