Sun, smiles and second helpings: our Summer Community BBQ

Families gathered at a community BBQ in a Toronto park

Hundreds of neighbours, new friends and longtime families gathered at Woodbine Beach for an afternoon of food, music and connection.

There is a particular kind of magic that happens when a community comes together over good food on a warm summer day. Our Summer Community BBQ at Woodbine Beach was full of it. From the first plates served to the last frisbee tossed, the afternoon felt like exactly what we hope to build all year round — a place where everyone belongs.

We welcomed youth, parents, grandparents, mentors, volunteers and a steady stream of curious new faces. The lawn games ran nonstop, the speakers kept the playlist rolling, and the food line moved with the easy patience of people who knew there was plenty to go around.

Thank you to every volunteer who showed up early, stayed late and made it possible. Thank you to the families who travelled from across the GTA. And thank you to the donors and partners who keep this work free for everyone who needs it. We will see you next summer — bring a friend.
